OVERVIEW OF THE SINGAPORE CONTAINER PORT SYSTEM | CONTAINER SHIPPING VIETNAM – SINGAPORE

Singapore, a small island nation with an area of only 735.7 km², has earned global admiration by becoming a world-leading maritime logistics hub. With an integrated ecosystem that includes seaports, marine transport, and maritime services, Singapore plays a vital role in the global transshipment network, making significant contributions to the global supply chain.

According to the 2023 Logistics Performance Index (LPI) published by the World Bank, Singapore ranks #1 globally—highlighting the country’s exceptional capabilities in supply chain management, logistics infrastructure development, and professional support services.
Its strategic geographical location is another major factor contributing to the success of Singapore’s logistics. The island lies adjacent to the Strait of Malacca and the Singapore Strait—two of the busiest shipping routes in the world, connecting the Indian Ocean, South China Sea, and the Pacific Ocean:
  • Strait of Malacca: A major route for transporting oil from the Middle East to East Asia.
  • Singapore Strait: A critical link between Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, making Singapore an essential stop for international shipping lines.
